Our men and women fighting terrorism and helping people of other lands resist oppression wear the symbol proudly on their uniform sleeves. Our flag represents the ideals of Truth, Liberty, and Justice for all, the principles for which our forefathers fought and died to forge a new nation. Maintaining respect for our national symbol is one way to foster Americanism.

The American Legion works to encourage respect and proper care of our national symbol, and Post 96 supports those efforts with flag disposal ceremonies for "Old Glories" that have finished their tour of duty.

See Frequently Asked Questions and Flag Code at the national web site for more information about our proud standard.
